Mission

To prepare graduates for work in various fields of media, capable of dealing with information and communication technologies, committed to the ethics of the media profession, and able to compete at local and regional levels. Graduates will conduct scientific research related to community priorities and contribute to the development of media institutions by providing advanced programs. We aim to cultivate a generation of media professionals who represent the foundation for media work and a research orientation that focuses on media and development issues.

Goals

The Media and Communication Department aims to achieve several objectives, including

  • Providing qualified scientific competencies and trained personnel to meet the needs of the community and its various sectors.
  • Collaborating with media institutions to identify their needs.
  • Advancing scientific development in media fields.
  • Training students on how to use technical equipment to enhance their media and technical skills.
  • Creating a positive environment that fosters creativity and develops personal capabilities and skills.
  • Assisting students in obtaining suitable internships in various media institutions.
  • Disseminating knowledge and promoting scientific research collaboration with local universities and institutions.
  • Ensuring the quality of the final outcomes of the educational process.

The Department of Media aims to train distinguished media professionals equipped with the theoretical and practical skills required for careers in radio, television, digital media, and public relations. The department offers specialized academic programs at the undergraduate level, along with hands-on training opportunities that enhance students’ abilities to analyze and produce media content with professionalism, adhering to the highest ethical and professional standards. It fosters a deep understanding of the role of media in society and prepares graduates for various career paths, including audiovisual media, digital marketing, and public relations.

The department grants a Bachelor’s degree in Media with the following three concentrations:

Must hold a Lebanese Baccalaureate degree or its equivalent.

Must take a placement test in the following subjects:

  • Arabic Language
  • One of the following languages: English or French
  • Information Technology

Must enroll in remedial courses if placement tests are not passed.

Must register for the complementary courses required by the ministry if holding a technical baccalaureate degree, which are:

  • Social Sciences (3 credits)
  • Philosophy and Psychology (3 credits)

Achieving successfully 105 credits depending on the enrolled program as follows:

Obtaining a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0 over

  • Three years for non-transfer students from other universities holding an official Lebanese Baccalaureate degree, after passing placement tests in English or French, as well as in Arabic and Information Technology.
  • Between three years and three and a half years for non-transfer students from other universities holding an official Lebanese Baccalaureate II degree who require some remedial courses in English or French, as well as in Arabic and Information Technology.
  • The duration of study for transfer students from other universities is determined based on the number of transferred credits.
