استضافت جامعة العلوم والفنون في لبنان (USAL) مرتضى لمناقشة صحافة الأمن.

The University of Sciences and Arts in Lebanon (USAL), as part of the Specialized Journalism course supervised by Dr. Houra Homani, hosted journalist Ridwan Murtada to speak about his
experience in judicial and security journalism.

Murtada revealed that the key to success in building a network of sources in this type of journalism lies in earning the trust of those who wish to remain anonymous, by safeguarding their confidentiality and protection. He emphasized the importance of cross-checking information from multiple sources before adopting or presenting any narrative to ensure accuracy. When asked whether he had ever faced threats, Murtada confirmed that he had, and also acknowledged having investigations prevented from publication. However, he believes that presenting documents and evidence supporting the published information is sufficient.

Murtada stressed that traditional journalism remains unthreatened despite the growing noise of social media platforms. Its status is preserved due to the high-quality content it delivers, which
continues to serve as a reference for other media outlets, while also reinforcing its presence by adapting to technological and digital advancements.
