The Department of Health Sciences aims to promote, maintain, and restore the health and well-being of individuals and communities through professional nursing education, research, and practice. Moreover, its goal is to develop a competent and ethical nursing workforce, ready to meet the needs of both local and global labor markets.

The Department of Health Sciences at USAL is a leading department focused on training healthcare specialists. It offers a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing, preparing students to face contemporary health challenges. In addition, through hands-on training in hospitals, research projects, and community health initiatives, the department ensures students are equipped with both scientific knowledge and practical skills. Moreover, the department plays an essential role in fostering innovation in healthcare and improving the quality of life.

The Health Sciences Department at (USAL) offers a Bachelor of Science in Nursing Sciences.

  • Must hold a Lebanese Baccalaureate degree or its equivalent.
  • Must take a placement test in the following subjects:
    • Arabic Language
    • English Language
    • Mathematics
    • Sciences
  • Must enroll in remedial courses if placement tests are not passed.
  • Must register for the bridging courses required by the Ministry of Education if holding a technical baccalaureate degree.
Students holding a Lebanese “Technicien Supérieur” (TS) degree in Nursing are eligible to integrate the BSN program upon the satisfaction of the following: 
  • Submission of completed application form.
  • Successful completion of Lebanese “Technicien Supérieur” (TS) degree in Nursing with an overall GPA of 12/20. 
  • A passing score (60/100) on Entrance Exam (remedial courses will be required otherwise)
  • Successful completion of all prerequisite and required courses according to formal TS Lebanese equivalence decision 780/3/2013 sec. 16 Appendix 2 dated 1/7/2013.

The major requires 61 nursing credits, and 35 core/foundation credits. In addition, the students must take 10 credits of University Requirements, of which six credits are electives from other faculties to make 106 Credits as Total Requirements.

Obtaining a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0 over

  • 3 years for non-transfer students, with an official Lebanese BACC II degree, who successfully pass their placement tests (English, Arabic, Science, and Math).
  • 3 -3.5 years for non-transfer students, with an official Lebanese BACC II degree, who need some remedial courses (English, Arabic, Science, and Math).
  • Transfer students’ study duration depends on the amount of transferred credits.
