The University of Sciences and Arts in Lebanon -USAL- held a memorial ceremony honoring its late President, Dr. Mohammad Reda Fadlallah, at Assaha – Heritage Village of Lebanon. The ceremony was attended by Minister of Education and Higher Education Dr. Rima Karami, Minister of Public Health Dr. Rakan Nassereddine, President of Al-Mabarrat Charitable Association His Eminence Sayyed Ali Fadlallah, Chairman of the University’s Board of Trustees Dr. Mohammad Baqer Fadlallah, USAL President Dr. Nasri Harb, as well as a distinguished gathering of official, religious, academic, educational, cultural, and social figures, alongside the late president’s family and members of the Al-Mabarrat and USAL communities.
The ceremony featured a documentary film highlighting Dr. Fadlallah’s journey and contributions, followed by speeches reflecting on his educational, humanitarian, and academic legacy.
Sayyed Ali Fadlallah reflected on Dr. Fadlallah’s educational mission, emphasizing that he viewed education not as a profession, but as a mission. He highlighted his deep sense of responsibility toward students, noting that Dr. Fadlallah aspired for them “not only to succeed, but to excel.”
Dr. Rima Karami emphasized that USAL represents one of the prominent achievements of Al-Mabarrat Charitable Association and its educational journey. She underscored the University’s responsibility to continue its path of development and advancement, stating that it faces “a beautiful yet profound responsibility: to preserve the legacy of those who contributed to its establishment—not by remaining where they left it, but by continuing to move forward.” She added that, as she follows with interest the University’s progress toward quality, development, and excellence, she sees this journey as “the finest tribute to those who led it.”
Dr. Nasri Harb reaffirmed the University’s commitment to continuing the path established under the leadership of its late president. He stated, “Our professor has departed only in body; the journey and the vision remain,” adding, “We pledge to you that we will continue the journey of building and giving.”
Dr. Ahmad Fadlallah, delivering a speech on behalf of the family, recalled aspects of his father’s character as a father, teacher, and role model. He expressed his profound appreciation, saying, “How could I ever give you, my father, even a fraction of what you deserve—or of all that I owe you?”
The ceremony concluded with the presentation of a “Loyalty Shield” to the family of the late president, in recognition of his journey, contributions, and lasting impact on the University and the field of education.
