USAL Organizes Training on Psychological First Aid

The University of Science and Arts in Lebanon -USAL organized an interactive training titled: “Introduction to Psychological First Aid: Human Response Skills for Psychological Support in Crises,” with the participation of students and faculty members.

The first phase of the training focused on the theoretical framework, emphasizing an understanding of the nature of crises and psychological stress, as well as how to respond to common reactions in difficult situations. It also addressed the distinction between normal psychological distress and cases requiring specialized intervention. Additionally, the training introduced Psychological First Aid and its humanitarian objectives, along with the “Look – Listen – Link” model as a practical framework for providing safe and effective psychological support.

The second phase was dedicated to practical application through exercises and realistic scenarios aimed at strengthening supportive communication skills, active listening, and providing psychological assistance while preserving individuals’ dignity and privacy. It also highlighted the importance of ethical principles, defining the limits of intervention, and referral mechanisms to specialists when needed.

This training comes as part of the university’s ongoing efforts to promote mental health awareness and empower its academic community to respond in a conscious and supportive manner during crises.
