Cybersecurity Achievement: USAL Student Discovers Microsoft Vulnerability

Malak Abbadi, a Cybersecurity student in the Computer Science Department at the USAL, has achieved a notable accomplishment in the field of cybersecurity. Through her security research, she identified a Server-Side Request Forgery (SSRF) vulnerability in one of Microsoft’s services and responsibly reported it to the Microsoft Security Response Center (MSRC).

The MSRC reviewed the report and forwarded it to the relevant team for further assessment and appropriate action, highlighting the significance of Malak’s research contribution and its role in strengthening the security of digital systems.

As a result of this achievement, Malak became part of the community of security researchers collaborating with the Microsoft Security Response Center (MSRC). In recognition of her contribution, she received an invitation to attend the MSRC Researcher Celebration & BlueHat event, organized by Microsoft to honor distinguished cybersecurity researchers. The event will take place in Las Vegas, United States, alongside the internationally renowned Black Hat conference.

This achievement reflects the advanced knowledge, technical expertise, and research capabilities demonstrated by USAL students, and underscores the University’s commitment to preparing highly qualified professionals capable of contributing to the fields of technology and cybersecurity at both national and international levels.

The University extends its congratulations to Malak Abbadi and wishes her continued success and excellence in her academic and professional journey.
