USAL Faculty Member Presents Research in the UK

Dr. Mohammad Khalil Tarraf, representing the University of Sciences and Arts in Lebanon (USAL), participated in the Second International Conference on Esoteric Currents and Intellectual Tensions: The Ghulāt in Formative Shiism, held at Al-Mahdi Institute in Birmingham, UK, on 9–10 July 2026.

During the conference, Dr. Tarraf presented his research paper, “Ghulūw and Esoteric Qur’anic Interpretation in the Early Islamic Centuries: Jābir ibn Yazīd al-Juʿfī as a Case Study,” which examines the relationship between ghulūw and esoteric Qur’anic interpretation in the formative period of Islam through the case of Jābir ibn Yazīd al-Juʿfī.

The conference brought together distinguished scholars and researchers from around the world, providing a platform for academic exchange and dialogue on key issues in early Shiʿi intellectual history.
