In a new academic and cultural achievement reflecting the impact of its alumni on society, author Maya Hamzeh, a graduate of the University of Sciences and Arts in Lebanon (USAL) – Faculty of Education, celebrated the signing of her new book, A Flame of Awareness, in the presence of a distinguished audience of academic, cultural, and media figures, as well as individuals interested in education and intellectual affairs.
USAL was keen to take part in this celebration of the work of one of its graduates. The Faculty of Education was represented by Dr. Mohammad Tarraf, Coordinator of the Arabic Language Teaching Program, who delivered a speech highlighting the author and her journey.
In his speech, Dr. Tarraf emphasized that awareness is not merely knowledge to be acquired, but rather an ongoing human journey that contributes to building individuals, empowering them to understand themselves, and enabling them to face life’s challenges. He noted:
“True education goes beyond the boundaries of traditional learning to become a sustainable project for building the mind, values, and conscience. The mission of educational institutions is not limited to transferring knowledge; it lies in shaping aware and responsible individuals.”
He added that A Flame of Awareness represents a sincere invitation to move from passive reception toward conscious and responsible thinking. He congratulated alumna Maya Hamzeh on this valuable publication and wished her continued excellence and contribution to the cultural and educational fields.
USAL’s participation in this event reaffirms the university’s commitment to supporting its alumni and fostering intellectual and cultural initiatives that contribute to spreading knowledge and serving the community.
