The University of Sciences and Arts in Lebanon -USAL participated in the ShanghaiRanking Excellence Program, organized by the Association of Arab Universities in collaboration with ShanghaiRanking in Dubai. The program brought together 24 Arab universities from seven Arab countries, along with academic and administrative leaders and representatives from university ranking, research, quality assurance, and strategic planning offices.
Dr. Moustapha Fortunato represented USAL at the program, which provided an opportunity to explore the latest methodologies and criteria used in global university rankings, as well as approaches to analyzing academic and research performance indicators and using data to support institutional development and strategic planning.
The program covered key areas related to the Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU) and the Global Ranking of Academic Subjects (GRAS), in addition to examining ranking indicators and data sources, and discussing practical strategies that universities can adopt to improve their performance and strengthen their presence in international rankings.
The program also provided a valuable platform for knowledge exchange and exposure to best practices in global university rankings, as well as access to specialized advisory sessions focusing on identifying strengths and areas for improvement and developing data-driven strategies based on academic and research indicators.
USAL’s participation reflects the University’s continued commitment to enhancing the quality of its academic and research performance, aligning with international higher education standards, and leveraging global ranking indicators as a tool for continuous development and improvement. It also highlights the University’s commitment to strengthening its competitiveness and academic presence both locally and internationally, in line with its vision of achieving institutional and academic excellence.
