Training Workshop at USAL on Electronic Academic Referencing According to APA-7

As part of its mission to strengthen students’ academic research skills, the Faculty of Education at the University of Sciences and Arts in Lebanon -USAL organized a training workshop titled: “Standards of Quotation, Citation, and Electronic Academic Referencing According to APA – 7th Edition.” The workshop targeted students from various academic levels and was conducted in an atmosphere of active engagement and strong interest in modern research tools.

The session was prepared and led by Dr. Mariam Hmeidan, who focused on simplifying theoretical concepts and presenting them in a hands-on, practical manner that allowed students to grasp the fundamentals of accurate academic referencing as practiced globally. The workshop emphasized the importance of citation in preserving intellectual integrity and enhancing the credibility of research. It also addressed key differences between the sixth and seventh editions of the APA style, particularly with regard to referencing digital sources, organizing appendices, and using visual elements such as charts and tables.

Dr. Hmeidan praised the students’ enthusiasm and participation, highlighting the importance of integrating these skills into academic pathways from the early stages. Such integration, she noted, is vital for preparing academically capable researchers with a strong command of precision and scholarly standards.

This workshop is part of a broader series of activities and programs adopted by the Faculty of Education at USAL, aiming to foster a culture of academic research and provide students with the methodological and technical tools needed to navigate academic and research fields with confidence and professionalism.
