The University of Science and Arts in Lebanon (USAL) organized an interactive session titled “Etiquette in Dealing with Persons with Special Needs”, as part of the Disability Rights Awareness Month. The initiative reflects the university’s mission to promote a culture of social inclusion, uphold values of humanity and mutual respect, and build a supportive and inclusive campus environment for all students.
The session aimed to raise students’ awareness of human and social etiquette when interacting with persons with special needs, correct common misconceptions and behaviors, and establish practices based on respect and human dignity. It also focused on developing students’ skills in positive and effective communication with individuals with various types of disabilities, encouraging behaviors that support full inclusion and participation within the campus, and enhancing the role of students as active partners in building a responsible and inclusive university community.
The program included interactive activities and discussions addressing real-life situations that persons with special needs may encounter in both university and daily environments. This provided participants with a deeper understanding of ethical ways to interact with individuals with disabilities in a manner that preserves dignity and fosters cooperation and humanitarian support.
This session is part of a series of initiatives launched by the university aimed at raising awareness and promoting the principles of justice, equality, and equal opportunities within the university community, in line with USAL’s educational and social mission.
