In celebration of Autism Awareness Month, students from the Faculty of Education at the University of Sciences and Arts in Lebanon – USAL, representing the Physical and Sports Education and Special Education departments, took part in the second edition of the sports day “United for Autism”, held on Thursday, April 25, 2024, at Hoops Club – Airport Road.
The event was organized through a joint initiative by the International Scientific Academy for Physical Education and Sports (ISAPES) and the Lebanese Badminton Federation – Disability Committee, with the participation of several specialized organizations and associations, as well as students from various universities and schools, and children with special needs accompanied by their families.
The activity featured more than ten sports and recreational stations, designed to promote inclusion between children with autism spectrum disorder and their peers, fostering a spirit of interaction, encouragement, and mutual understanding. The event also aimed to raise community awareness about the power of sports as a tool for psychological, physical, and social empowerment.
At the conclusion of the event, ISAPES honored USAL with a Certificate of Appreciation, presented to Mr. Hussein Alaa El-Din, Coordinator of the Physical and Sports Education Program, in recognition of the university’s active participation and continuous support in promoting social inclusion through physical education and sports.
